Organization

The Truman National Security Project Educational Institute is a national security leadership training institute, the nation's only organization that recruits, trains, and positions a new generation of progressives across America to lead on national security.

Our mission is to provide the skills, knowledge, and network to create an influential force of leaders across the country who advance strong progressive national security policy. Today you will find leaders we have trained running for office across the country, advising presidential and Congressional campaigns, drafting legislation in the halls of Congress, assuming leadership posts in the military, playing key roles in local and national government, and working on the front lines of America’s homeland security.

Our trainings include:

  • National Security Bootcamps, day-long trainings for elected and appointed officials, campaign staff, and progressive organizations nationwide
  • Military 101 Trainings for elected and appointed leaders, campaign staff, and progressive organizations nationwide
  • Congressional Security Scholars Program, a twelve-week program for junior Congressional staff
  • Intern Security Springboard, a five-week program for college-age summer interns in Washington, D.C.
  • Executive Agency Training Program, a 16 session crash course for individuals interested in serving in Executive Agencies who have never before served in Executive government
